Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Lift Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the twelfth time in the last thirteen years.
