A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by law enforcement.
A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.
These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for medical care and have since been discharged.
Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.
Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.
The assault - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
